Perception drops during questing.
Finding items
The chance to find an item is based largely on the amount of energy being used per click and somewhat on your perception skill.
There is some initial ‘buy in’, whether through assigned points or equipment bonus. With a skill of 100 perception or less, your chances are really low. Between 100 and 1000 perception, your chances to find improve. The increasing of the chance really starts diminishing or evening out around 1000.
With a total perception of 1000 (counting gear and buffs), and using 10 energy, you have about a 1% chance of finding an item per click. The chance to find an item increases directly with the amount of energy used, so using 100 energy will give you a 10% chance.
At a total perception of 10,000 and using 10 energy, you have roughly a 1% chance of finding an item. Using 100 energy gives you about an 11% chance.
A total perception of 30,000 gives you roughly the same find chances as 10,000.
Notification of items
This change will not happen until January 18th, but at that time you will be able to ‘click through’ the popup window the same as the level up window. What this means is that you can allow a few perception popups to stack before taking the time to close them.
Item Quality
Item quality will improve with your perception skill.
You may find pieces of the Golden Garden set at any skill level, but you chances to greatly increase with your skill.
You may also find Perfected Clockwork Parts at any skill level, though the quantity may vary.
1 – 3999: Brown and Grey buffs and Books of Knowledge.
4000 – 5999: Brown, Grey, and Green buffs and Books of Knowledge.
6000 – 9999: Grey and Green buffs and Books of Knowledge.
10000 – 13999: Grey, Green, and Blue buffs and Books of Knowledge.
14000 – 15999: Green and Blue buffs and Books of Knowledge.
16000 – 17999: Green, Blue, and Purple buffs and Books of Knowledge.
18000 – 21999: Blue, and Purple buffs and Books of Knowledge.
22000 – 23999: Blue, Purple, and Orange buffs and Books of Knowledge.
24000 – 29999: Purple and Orange buffs and Books of Knowledge.
30000+: Orange buffs and Books of Knowledge.
Weights of the rarities often vary within these brackets as your perception increases.
At present, more than 30,000 in perception skill would not garner any additional benefits, though that number may be changed in the future.
Item Specifics
There are three new potion buffs:
Enhanced Liquid Rage: boosts Attack for 4 hours.
Enhanced Elixir of Warding: boosts Defense for 4 hours.
Enhanced Potion of Inner Eye: boosts Perception for 4 hours.
The old, non-enhanced potions will no longer drop.
Boost amounts are as follows:
Brown: + 25
Grey: +100
Green: +200
Blue: +500
Purple: +800
Orange: +1200
Books of Knowledge remain as they were before:
Brown: +5 sp
Grey: +10 sp
Green: +20 sp
Blue: +40 sp
Purple: +80 sp
Orange: +160 sp
Clockwork pieces will no longer drop. Instead, there will be a crafting piece called Perfected Clockwork Part. All existing clockwork pieces will be converted to these new pieces at the time of the patch.
We are currently in the process of making some changes due to discussion here.
Conversion will be done at a rate of:
Brown = 1
Grey = 4
Green = 16
Blue = 64
Purple = 256
Orange = 1024
All clockwork crafting recipes will use only PCP as construction parts.
Since all clockwork items are centrally tied to perception now, we are looking into appropriate perception boosts for all pieces of this set.
Of Note:
Ratio of skill point return per energy use increases with higher perception.
Ratio of buff amount per energy use increases with higher perception.
Potion buffs of the same skill but different rarities can stack.
*Due to stacking benefits, we will need to rebalance the 30k+ bracket of drops.
